It Is Time to Go Solar
By going solar, you'll be saving time, saving money, and most importantly - saving our planet.
Buisness Solar PV systems
Lower your overheads, stop relying on the grid, generate clean power, build a green reputation, increase asset value…Solar & storage can achieve all this for your business.
Domestic Solar PV systems
No matter which way your house is facing, energy prices are going north. Demand is increasing, resources are dwindling. It’s time for a rethink about your energy needs. The Sun gives us more than enough solar energy to power everything we do, the whole world over. We’re just happy to start with you…
Tailored Systems
No ties, no commission means we have no vested interests. With 80+ manufacturers to choose from, we can help you compare solar energy combinations and stay impartial throughout. The best set-up for you might not suit your neighbour. This is probably the most important influence on your choice of system. With our experience and knowledge we can find the best system for you. And all our suggestions are backed up by independent calculations, and your finances are protected to independent insurance warranties.
Planning permissions
In most cases, no. Domestic solar panel installations are considered ‘permitted developments’ and don’t require planning permission unless:
-
you live in a listed building
-
your home’s in a conservation area or an area of outstanding natural beauty. (Panels are permitted in a conservation area as long as they’re not installed on a wall or roof that fronts a main highway)
-
the panels protrude more than 200mm from the roof. We always fit within this limit.
-
you are having a ground mounted array.
If you’re unsure about permitted developments, please visit your local government council website.
How solar panels work step by step
-
The sun gives off light, even on cloudy days.
-
PV cells on the panels turn the light into DC electricity.
-
The current flows into an inverter, which converts it to AC electricity ready to use.
-
The current is fed through a meter and then into your home’s consumer unit.
-
Plug in and switch on. Your system will automatically use the free electricity you’ve generated, then switch back to the grid as needed.
-
Any electricity you don’t use is exported to the grid for others to use.
Paperwork & Agreement
Powys solar are MCS accredited. This means you will recieve an MCS certificate to cover yoru installation. You will also receive an IWA insurance backed guarantee with your system.
Solar for buisnesses
If your business energy costs have sky rocketted.
A Solar PV installation can help reduce bills during working daylight hours.
A battery storage system can accompany a solar pv installation to increase those savings.
What does an inverter do?
Inverters change the DC current from the panels to AC current needed for your home and the grid.
Solar On!
The energy created by a solar PV system can be used, stored or sent back to the national grid. A battery storage system is perfect for people who will not be home to use power during the day. and can be saved to be used in the evening.
Utility Connection
A grid connected PV system is one where the photovoltaic panels or array are connected to the utility grid through a power inverter unit allowing them to operate in parallel with the electric utility grid.
